Paul Werth Associates Honors Memory of Board Member John Russell

August 18th, 2009

COLUMBUS, Ohio – John Russell, a 12-year advisory board member of Paul Werth Associates, passed away unexpectedly Aug. 12. His leadership was instrumental in the public relations, marketing and public affairs firm’s growth toward fully integrated communications service.

“John was a friend with big ideas,” said Sandra Harbrecht, Werth president and CEO. “He not only had big ideas – and good ones – but he made sure we at Werth knew the importance of building our business by bringing big ideas to our clients.”

Russell was instrumental in Werth’s acquisition of The Haunty Agency, bringing in-house a full-service creative team to the firm’s assets, Harbrecht said.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Russell earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Ohio State University. A marketing executive for Bank One, he served on the national committee for the Public Relations Society of America and as president of the Bank Marketing Association. He was a supporter of Habitat for Humanity and Morty’s Kids, a program introducing young people from all backgrounds to golf instruction.

“John’s departure from this world will be a big loss for those who knew and admired him,” Harbrecht said.

Contributions may be made in Russell’s memory to Habitat for Humanity, 3140 Westerville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43224 or to Morty’s Kids at www.mortonfoundation.com.
