White Castle executives and family members spanning five generations made a pilgrimage to Wichita, the city where the fast-food chain was founded in celebration of its 90th birthday year.  Paul Werth Associates developed the “sizzling” public relations campaign around this historic event.

The pilgrimage included a stop at the Sunflower Bank, which sits on the site where the first White Castle restaurant was built in 1921. White Castle presented the bank with a commemorative landmark plaque that is a stainless steel etching of the first White Castle restaurant.

Harbrecht Speaks at Barons of Business Event, Inducted into Junior Achievement Hall of Fame

January 24, 2011

Paul Werth Associates President and CEO Sandra Harbrecht today joined with other leaders recognized as Barons of Business in talking to future business leaders attending a luncheon sponsored by Columbus Rotary, Columbus Rotaract and Junior Achievement.

Ms. Harbrecht told the audience that she learned from an early age from her father who in 1963 started the marketing and public relations firm that bears his name. “He believed that public relations was first and foremost about building trust and credibility for his clients with their customers, shareholders, employees and the communities in which they did business.”

Ms Harbrecht shared three ideas for helping to protect one’s credibility and reputation:

  • First, develop an internal compass so that you are never in doubt about who you are and what principles will guide your life.
  • The second essential element of reputation-based decision making is to acknowledge and respect reality.
  • A third essential element for reputation-based decision-making is to extend your horizon.

The other award recipients who addressed the luncheon today are Mr. William Lhota, President and CEO of the Central Ohio Transit Authority and Mr. Robert Weiler, Chairman of the Robert Weiler.  All three speakers are recent inductees to the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame.

Paul Werth Associates is an integrated communications consulting firm that has been recognized for leadership in public relations, advertising, public affairs, interactive and research services – raising awareness, building credibility and mobilizing public opinion for clients in the private and public sector since 1963.

Talk about Results! Integrated Campaign Delivers Several Billion Dollars in New Business

September 14, 2010

In measuring the success of a communications campaign, the proof is in the  results.  That philosophy is the heart of Werth’s practice and the reason many of our client relationships last for decades.

Case in point: the Ohio Business Development Coalition. In 2005, Werth and OBDC embarked on a long-term marketing and public relations campaign to change perceptions about Ohio’s desirability as a business location and enhance the state’s national reputation. Over the past five years, this campaign has succeeded in elevating Ohio’s profile among targeted C-level executives and site selection consultants and helped to attract several billion dollars of capital investment to the Buckeye State.

The campaign builds awareness of the Ohio brand and delivers key messages directly to C-level executives (CEO, CFO, CIO) and site selection consultants through:

  • A series of national print and online advertising campaigns in The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Forbes, Fortune, Entrepreneur and Inc.  Each ad  features a prominent executive talking about how he or she has found the perfect balance of personal and professional success in Ohio, “The State of Perfect Balance.” Nearly 100 executives have participated in the advertising campaign.
  • An earned media relations program that has placed more than 1,500 news stories, bylined articles and op-ed pieces in elite national media such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN and Fox Business – generating more than $4 million in ad equivalency and 430 million impressions among C-level audiences.
  • Development of strategy and content for the OBDC Ohio Means Business website, which provides resources for those considering starting, locating or expanding a business in Ohio.
  • Social media campaigns, search engine optimization strategies and online content that drive more than 15,000 visitors a week to the OBDC website.

The integrated campaigns have incorporated several thousand individuals into OBDC’s customer relationship management system, resulting in leads that have been converted into several billion dollars in new business development. As a result, Site Selection magazine has awarded its prestigious Governor’s Cup to Ohio for the past four years, recognizing it as the state with the most new or expanded capital projects.
