Werth and National Safe Boating Council Honored with PR News’ Platinum PR Award

nsbc_pr-awardThe National Safe Boating Council, in partnership with Paul Werth Associates (Werth), received national recognition for its work on behalf of the North American Safe Boating Campaign from PR News’ Platinum PR Awards.

The North American Safe Boating Campaign won an honorable mention in the Research & Measurement category for efforts to determine the impact of the campaign on boaters’ attitudes and behaviors about the use of life jackets and other boating safety measures.

“It’s an honor to be recognized with PR News’ highest award and to have the opportunity to showcase the life-saving mission of the North American Safe Boating Campaign,” said Rachel Johnson, CAE, executive director of the National Safe Boating Council.

“This honor belongs not only to the National Safe Boating Council and Werth, but also to the dedicated volunteers who survey boaters at various bodies of waters around the United States,” Johnson said. “Thank you to all who have volunteered time and effort to evaluate the success of the North American Safe Boating Campaign.”

The annual survey of recreational boaters found that the North American Safe Boating Campaign continues to have a positive impact on boater behavior. The survey leveraged a team of 25 trained volunteers to interview boaters at bodies of water in various states throughout the spring and summer. The survey found that boaters who are aware of the campaign are significantly more likely than those who are unaware to wear their life jackets “always or most of the time.”

“The National Safe Boating Council continues to help prevent boating deaths and injuries nationwide through the campaign, and we are proud to be a part of those efforts,” said Sandra W. Harbrecht, Werth’s president and CEO.

The National Safe Boating Council manages the North American Safe Boating Campaign, an annual informational grassroots initiative that educates boaters and the general public about the importance of wearing life jackets and following safe behavior while boating. Werth implemented an integrated communications program on behalf of the campaign, including public relations, marketing and research strategies.
